Does writing matter/do they care about it? Do I submit the 33 or 34?

Hello,

I have taken the ACT twice (and cannot take it again due to the test date...) and am wondering which of the two will likely look better...

35 English
36 Math
33 Reading
28 Science
12 Writing
(Composite 33)

The second attempt
34 English
35 Math
34 Reading
31 Science
10 Writing
(Composite 34)

Will the writing score really make an impact/matter at all? Is it better that in the second score they are all in the 30s, or is it better that the first one has 36 in something? Just loping for some thoughts.

Thank you!

Send both because you had an improvement in science in the second one and had really high math, english, and writing on the second one. Both are very respectable scores and colleges will not look down on either one.

I honestly don’t think they do anything with the writing. Neither score should hurt.

If you’re unable to send both, the second one is better. On your first test, your science score almost looks measly compared to math. On the second one, you come across as a much more well-rounded student (assuming the only thing seen is that one score set)

the 34 is better but try to send both
