Does Yale have any sororities or fraternities?

I was looking at a comparison chart on the Ivey League schools and it looks like it showing that Yale, Harvard, and Princeton have no fraternities and sororities? is this true?

it is very limited

They do have some, but relatively few. There are also Societies, but they are only for sr year.

emerald: a better question for you would be “Why doesn’t Yale have a big Greek scene?”

You’ll find that the very successful Residential College system supplants most of the deficit usually filled by frats/sororities at other schools. Research this.

There are frats and sororities; they’re just not officially recognized by Yale. They do have an impact on the social life here since they throw a number of parties, but they don’t dominate the social scene like they might at a state school.

There are 3 national sororities at (but not officially recognized by) Yale: Kappa Alpha Theta, Pi Beta Phi and Kappa Kappa Gamma. There are also several fraternities, but I am not as familiar with them and don’t know how many and all of their names. They do have an active social scene for those who are interested.

There are societies for those in their junior year also.

^Thanks for the correction, should have said “most”.
