Does Yale offer online classes that award credit from the university?
Yes, Yale does, particularly during its summer session. Yale Summer Session offers a variety of credited online classes for undergraduates, high school students, and postgraduates. Not all of the courses are taught by full time faculty, though, so you need to look at the schedule and see whose teaching the courses you’re looking to enroll in. I took a class with full-time English professor Jessica Brantley titled “Reading and Writing the Modern Essay.” While it’s certainly only a microcosm of the full experience of being a full-time degree student at Yale, the quality of the course and its structure and content were certainly phenomenal. It’s not at all like Harvard Extension School and if you can afford taking online classes its certainly a delight.
One other caveat I would like to add is that taking summer session courses at an Ivy League school is not in and of itself a golden ticket into that university; though, many of the students that these programs tend to attract have high stats anyway so they at least tend to get into slightly lower ranked schools.
