I've read a few articles about some schools allowing students to have pets in their dorms. I have tried to figure out which schools allow this, but so far have only found Reed College, which has a cat dorm. The websites of other colleges mentioned in the articles don't mention pets at all. So I was wondering if anyone here is in a dorm that allows pets?

i can have a fish... but most peopel don't really count that I guess. It is also possible to hide rabbits and turtles in our dorms

My niece went to University of Puget Sound and had a golden retriever that lived with her in her dorm room.

We were allowed pets that lived in an aquarium (small snakes, fish, turtles, etc.)

MIT lets students have cats in some dorms.

Fish.
I would have them if I could (salt or fresh!) Buuut I can't think of a reasonable way to do a well-done tank.... leave for a month over x-mas and then drive it home over a couple state boundaries for summer. Ugh.

caltech has lots of weird pets, including a goat in one of the houses.. when i stayed there the dorm i stayed in had a really friendly big mostly-white male cat

Fish.

Though, we kept a dog for a semester haha.

^ why would u want a fish?

My aunt had a beta fish, it was seriously the most boring, selfish pet ever.

They don't even give u love or company

they just swim and take ur food

That makes sense about the dog in a UPS room, since the rooms are huge. I think I'll take my cockatiel to college.

What a pain a cat or dog would be in college. Fish are understandable. A nice freshwater tank could be easy to maintain and really add an aesthetic touch to a nice dorm.

For some reason I just don't see my vision of a 200 gallon reef rank with African Lionfish mixing with college life. Guess I'll wait....

my school just allowed fish, although they would look the other way on turtles and other such things which also live in aquariums. One girl had the cutest little tiny turtle!
But that didn't stop people from having other pets. One guy had a ferret for a while, and a couple of girls took care of their friend's puppy for like a week while he was out of town.
I had two fish while I lived in the dorms, but I could never keep them alive longer than a couple months, so I stopped getting them.

Most people here live in apartments near, but off, campus and many of those places allow pets so I know alot of people who have cats and dogs. One of my friends has guinea pigs. My place doesn't allow pets though, unfortunately. I miss my cats at home!
