Does your first semester of Senior Year count?

I need the 4.0 (assuming I get it) for Senior year, and I was wondering if those grades are released by the time I send my application for colleges (not early decision)? Just curious

Yeah it counts..You can sack off 2nd though but just not fail anything. Dude, its Senior year for you..Have fun :p

They probably won't get it when you send your application, but you will most likely have to send a midyear report with 1st semester senior year grades.

If you apply Early Decision, and get accepted, your first semester senior grades are not of great import (assuming you don't fail everything). However, if you get deferred from ED, or do Regular Decision, the admissions committee will use your senior grades as part of their analysis of whether or not to admit you. Basically, senior year (especially first semester) is not a time to slack off.

Your colleges may see a midterm grade report of some kind. Schools want to know your aren't riding on whatever grades you got before the year started, thinking that senior year doesn't matter. They'll also see your final grades when they verify that you did graduate, so don't slack off too much. But going from an A to a B in a class is not a problem or the end of the world.

1st semester of senior year is THE last semester a college looks at prior to making a decision in most cases, so the simple answer is YES! In many cases, it will matter more than your entire junior year since it shows them how you finished. If you improve in that first semester of your senior year it may indicate you're learning whereas if you slack a lot, it shows you were simply trying to "look good" for college apps and probably don't care that much.
Additionally, realize that the stuff you're learning now will be important when you're in college and take your classes somewhat seriously. Learn from them now so you can enjoy college and study less there when it really matters!
