It is my understanding that your credits will transfer to CSULB from... wherever you transferred from, but is it true that your GPA resets????

From what I have read, yes, your GPA does reset on transfer. Your classes taken and grades received remain, but as far as GPA it looks like it gets wiped clean at a new institution.

Definitely not. Even as a high school student, if you take courses at a CC, those grades follow you even as a college student.

Update:

I called them today. They said the grades will remain, but the GPA is reset since this is my first time taking classes at CSULB.

I got admitted to CSULB and SDSU. Gave SDSU a call about this a few days ago because I got admitted as an undeclare major. They said everything transfer over, so if I received a bad grade on my final, it would take me that much longer to bring my GPA up to get into my major. Going to call them again on Monday.

I think my question might confuse some people.

I meant to say… Does your GPA carry over to the new university (csulb) or will your GPA be based on the classes you take @ csulb?

For upper transfers not first time freshmen.

How can the “grades remain,” but your GPA gets reset?

just asked sdsu admission fb

its calculated into our cumulative gpa.

@ThePowerofOne: Scratch that, I mean your credits transfer over but not the GPA from the previous college.

they give u credit as if u attended CSU LB all you college life . ur GPA and grades will remain. the only thing that will give u off as a tensfer is that u get 60 units in one semester

your gpa resets once you transfer school but those previous grades will be on your record. So when you go up to grad school, all your grades and your cumulative grades are shown
