Does JHU accept students based on their credentials in their intended major or is it done holistically? Let say I want to do premed or engineering. Would it be easier to get into JHU for engineering?

BME is harder to get into than any other major.

The others, I have heard, are more or less the same.

BME (Biomedical Engineering) is the only major you have to apply to separately to get into. However, all applicants, including BME applicants, are looked at for admission to the University first, and they all have an equal chance of getting in regardless of major. Only then do they look at those who wanted to major in BME and decide which applicants, of those chosen for admission to the University, will be offered a position in the program.

In other words, even if you apply BME, you have an equal chance of getting into the University as an applicant to any other major.
