I'm wondering if where you live has any bearing on your chances of being accepted?

Let's say there are 2 spots left.

Applicant A & Applicant B, all things being equal, have the same SSAT, same EC's, etc.

Applicant A lives in New England somewhere.
Applicant B lives in Arkansas.

Who gets the spot?

Arkansas.

This is very basic knowledge once you get into the system enough, Affirmative Action is hardly downplayed in boarding school admissions.

Why is it Arkansas?

Depends. If they don’t have kids from your state/province/country then yes, it helps. If you apply to Andover from New Jersey, than it will hurt.

So if I applied to Peddie or Lawrenceville from New Jersey, it would hurt since both of them are in my state?

It won’t hurt, just won’t help. Take it for what you will

Oh okay, so the location is just sort of…there. I get it now, thanks! :D
