Does your major choice for College of Letters and Science affect your chances?

Im currently filling out my UC application, and i noticed that under the college of letters and science there doesnt seem to be a choice to apply undeclared, despite many people telling me that you dont declare a major until your second year at the school. Would, say, applying for economics, grant me a lower chance of acceptance into the school than if i applied for something like east asian studies?

All L&S admissions are undeclared. Be aware that some L&S majors require a high enough college GPA in their prerequisites to enter the major (e.g. economics requires a 3.0 college GPA in the prerequisite courses).

Apply to the major of your choice. Applying to East Asian Studies over Economics isn’t going to make it easier for you to get accepted unless you’ve actually demonstrated interest or passion in East Asian Studies through your extracurriculars, essays, or awards.
