Say you wanted to go to ucsb as a bio major, but theres a lot of others applying for bio majors. If you had the same application but wanted to be a theater major and not as many applied in that would you get in?

Yes, absolutely. If a given program is impacted or particularly well-known (like bio at UCSB or engineering at Cornell), it will be MUCH more competitive than admission to the school normally would be.

In your “hypothetical” situation, though, I’d suggest a school other than Santa Barbara for a Theater Arts major. Irvine’s is probably the strongest undergrad UC (except the ridiculously competitive UCLA, of course), and UCSD’s grad theatre program is top-notch. Best of luck in your search! :D

Thank you! It actually was hypothetical though hahaha I want to go to long beach
