<p>I am new to CC, so please forgive me for a post that I'm sure has been answered tons of times.</p>
<p>I'm wondering if more weight is given to a certain area of study. For example, it is quite evident that African-American's are extremely underrepresented in the sciences/engineering, so if two equally achieving African-Americans were applying to an Ivy League and marked their area of study Computer Science, and the other marked Economics, woud the Computer Science major get more consideration in admissions? Thanks in advance.</p>
