My school produces a lot of really good kids, and we get like 2-3 every year that go to really elite schools, but a lot of our kids stay in state. Texans tend to have a lot of pride. I want to get out of here, though.

My school has produced no one that I know of to go to an elite school. When my parents mentioned to the princple during parent teacher meetings that I was planning on going to caltech they said that they had never sent anyone to a school like that. It seems like half my school is high and the other half is just to lazy to do thier homework.

35% to an ivy, Stanford or MIT. NE boarding prep.

canadian.. basicly onli few IBers take SAT, most gets in top canadian uni like UT or waterloo (and ubc) we get 10-15 ish top 25s every year, had 30+ ppl with 40+IB score last year. (thats only the IB class though, the normal class has it hard since the school's overall standards are raised by IB)

In the past 10 years, nobody has gone to an Ivy. Prior to that, I'm not sure, but it's very possible that nobody has ever been to an Ivy. As far as other good schools, nobody attends those either. In fact, the only good school anybody EVER attends is the University of Michigan...and that's probably only 1 person per year. The remainder of people stay in-state (ohio) and usually go to bad colleges here...nobody here even knows what an SAT II is, and they consider taking any more honors classes than 4 to be suicide...that basically explains the entire scenario.

We get maybe 1 or 2 who go to Stanford, UCLA, or UCB--these are usually the valedictorians/top AP students. A lot of people get into the lower-tier UC's like SC, SB, etc. We do have some famous alumni like Harvard Law Professor Charles Ogletree. We have a really low percentage of people who go to college. I think most people go to the JC or go to State Univ's.

Well, my school is pretty decent, I guess, especially for a non-magnet public.

Decisions came out today, and we have 2 Harvard bounds, 1 MIT bound, 5 or 6 UPenn people (mostly all Wharton), but I think our high school has an insane number of Columbia and Cornell people. I mean, I'm a junior and don't know too many seniors, but I already know of 15 or so going to each, and it's just day 1 after letters.

Princeton seems to like us too, but let's not jinx ourselves until those decisions come out.

Stanford and MIT seem to hate us, but it's all good. Besides, it's all but impossible to be an Asian male from central New Jersey who wants to do engineering at MIT and get in. You've got to be olympiad lever caliber (but we've had a couple of those).

Lastly, I feel bad for you intelligent guys out there stuck in sub-par schools. But I'm sure you'll do just fine, so good luck!

Harvard: 0
Yale: 0
Princeton: 0
Dartmouth: Several (Don't know the exact number)
UPenn: Several ("")
Cornell: Several ("")
Columbia: Several ("")
Brown: Several ("")

Students have the potential to go to Harvard or Princeton, but because they lack self-confidence, they have never applied. Nobody in my school has ever applied to Harvard, Yale or Princeton.

Of those accepted to the ivies above, most chose not to attend them and preferred a CUNY or SUNY education. This year's valedictorian is going to a CUNY (Hunter) because he got into the honors program.

The junior girl who currently ranks #1 (class of '06) is planning on going to CUNY Hunter. She's not applying to any elite schools.

I think my junior class is going to have the first ever accepted student to Harvard (and first ever who applied, lol). About 32 of this year's juniors have the potential and I'm positive that several of them will apply (because of HFAI).

The only other problem with the students in my school is that they're all misinformed. Many of the juniors do not know that certain schools require SAT IIs... many don't even know what they are, lol. When I asked a friend of mine (who's hoping to get accepted by an elite school), "What SAT IIs are you taking?", she answered me with, "SAT II Writing". I tried telling her they no longer administered the exam, but she insisted that since it was easier than the "Verbal" (she meant lit, I believe) SAT II, she would take that. She's planning on taking just one SAT II and hoping she gets accepted by top colleges/universities. Another friend of mine said, "I'm applying to an ivy league, because I have the grades." When I asked where, she said "SUNY Binghamton". She had been under the impression that the school was an ivy and despite my attempt at correcting her, she insisted that she would go to an ivy league and that that would be it.

My school's not terrible; the majority of students get accepted into all or most of all the schools they apply to, but none of them really take chances.

NYU-2
Columbia-1
Cornell-1
Darthmouth-1
Princeton-1
University of Chicago-2
Northwestern-1
Rice-6

That was 05 class. They were really smaart. top 10% was like a 4.2 or something

Though over 80% of the students in my class dont know what an ivy is,our results for this year are

Harvard-2
Yale-1
Princeton-1
Stanford-2
Caltech-1
Cornell-2
Dartmouth-2
Upenn-3
Columbia-2
Brown-1
Uchicago-1
Northwestern-3

yes, I'm not sure around how many this year. But here's an estimate for class '04 of how many made it into top colleges.

Stuyvesant High School.

On Weinstein's site, there's an incomplete list for '05:
Harvard- 7
Columbia - 16
Columbia SEAS - 10
Cornell- 18
Dartmouth - 9
John Hopkins - 6
MIT- 10
Princeton - 12
U of Penn - 6
Yale - 7

My school sucks, this year so far:1 Stanford, 1 Northwestern, 1 Cornell.

Yep.

Our graduating classes are between 45 and 75, and in the last five years we've sent 90 students to the University of Michigan. So, roughly a third of our students go to the second best public school in the country.

This year, graduating class of 65.

Harvard - 2
Princeton - 2
Yale - 1
Brown - 2
UMich - 18
Miami (Florida) - 4
MSU - 5
NYU - 3
U. Chicago - 5
Northwestern - 2

And a host of other really good LAC's that I don't know much about. I'd say 90% of our kids end up at top tier schools, and probably 50% end up at schools in the top 30 lists of univ's and LAC's.

Last year when I graduated here's the general idea for our class of 41 regarding where everyone ended up going-
Harvard: 1
Yale: 2
Dartmouth: 1
RISD: 1
Juliard: 1
Columbia: 2
CMU: 3 (but then everyone who applied got in as we're just down the road)
There was also a girl who got into University of Washington's 7 year program to be a doctor, which only 10 kids are accepted to or something insane like that. Turned down Stanford for it too.

Most of ours go to schools of ECU/UNCW level. The top 10-15% generally go to UNC or NC State, with the top 1-3 sometimes going on to schools like Duke (1 is going to Duke this year, 1 got waitlisted at MIT; nobody went to a school better than UNC last year), and the odd rich person in the top 5-10% going to a Wake Forest or Furman.

We have one Ivy Leaguer this year, and she's our school's first. Ever. Other than that we get a few that go to decent schools. Not many. At all. In fact, only 25% of each class goes to college...and that includes community college.

2 goin to Harvard this yr. (Last yr one went on a golf scholarship).
No one in my school went to Yale or Penn yet, atleast that I know of since 2000.

This year:

Val - Harvey Mudd
Sal - Was accepted at Cornell, but probably Berkeley or UCLA

3 - Bowdoin

SB President - USC
Me - Georgetown

We usually have at least one go to Harvard and one to stanford, and a few to Brown... But i know no one got into harvard or stanford this year. Dont know about the other schools. Last year though... We had a CalTech, an MIT, a few harvards(not sure exactly... three i think), and three stanfords. My school has on and off years. Class of '04 was the genius class. My class ('06) has some potential as well, but only very limited.

This is actually a pretty good year for our school. Most amount of people to go to a LAC. :)
