Hey CCers! My first post here! Anyways...
My school is filled with numerous community service organization that really doesn't focus on any profession. Yes we have some political clubs like debate, M.U.N, youth in government but not a single health related clubs! It's werid since half of our students are asians who ARE interested in medical field yet no-one is interested of starting a club. So, here am i, asking for your help because i'm hoping to start a club. It's very challenging to start a club at our school so please help me so i can know more about health clubs.

So, What kind of health clubs do you have? What do you guys do? Is it active? Do you benefit anything out of this club? What kind of funraiser do you guys do?
(I'm trying to start a HOSA chapter, so if you know more about this organization, please let me know! Or any else organization related pre med)
Thanks!!

There are no Health Related Clubs… Future MD Seekers, don’t participate in any academically involved extra-curricular clubs, within High School Boundary. Right Now, you should be focused on Great Grades, and you should be involved in any clubs offered at your school.

If you are that enthusiastic, in doing something medically involved, find a program, preferbly during the summer.

@PeterAP, i understand what your saying but im asking for you a way to start one. I’m looking towards future nursing, perhaps at UPENN. I want college to notices my interest in this field. Not only this, numerous of folks including freshmans, sophmore, junior and seniors are rooting for me to build a club that both benefits their interest of medicine. &Yes ive started reaching out futher- volunteering at hospital & will eventually apply for internship this summer. But that’s no spark. Our school competes with students with extra unique EC-like my bestfriend is building some water pipe line at Africa. Note that i just want to take my interest further &be able to compete with the best.

Yep, my school has a medical academy where the first year you take an intro course then next you take health science one, then anatomy/physiology and after you actually pick first responder/cna and choose which path to take.

My school has several. We have HOSA, and then we have the Health Academy/Medical Magnet, which is a three-year program where you have to take Nursing in your sophomore year, physiology and psychology in your junior, but I forgot about the senior year.

The school also offers these classes in pharmacology and medical terminology where you can earn college credit (they’re college classes held at the high school).

We’re also affiliated with Stanford, so a lot of our students attend Stanford-affiliated programs and such.

We also used to have a dental program too, if that counts. No longer though, since we lost the money to keep it going.

From what I know, they’re all active (except for of course, the dental program). I attend every single one except for the pharmacology classes. I might take medical terminology next semester though.

Yeah We also have HOSA at my high school ^ It’s pretty boss. Very active, does competitions every year (which are really fun too). A thing wee did was pass out shoes and people donated money to (it was for the JDRF fund, this year they’re doing cystic fibrosis). Also, we hold blood drives. Just a few ideas for you. Good luck!
