Does your school have university application limits?

My school limits us to 8 applications through the common app. We have roughly 200 students in each year and 5 counselors. Is it even legal for a school to have such a limit?

To me, it seems like a very foolish limit, why on earth would you limit your students’ chances at a good university, especially at the increasingly competitive top universities. If it were too few counselors I would understand, even though I would think it would be the school’s fault for not hiring more counselors, not to mention that the one I attend is a private school. To think that students would not have to time to produce good supplementary essays for each university is unfounded. I simply don’t understand why there would be such a limit.

Any of you face a similar problem?

I don’t think there is a law, though Common App may have a limit though I think it is more than 8. I do think that your school is setting a limit to force you to be thoughtful about where you apply. If you research well, eight may be a great number.
