Does your selection for "intended" major affect your chances of getting in?

I didn't realize this before, but is it possible that when you fill out an application and choose an intended major, that it can work against you? For example, I'm planning on transferring to OSU undergrad as a junior, but I only have a 3.23 gpa, and Biology was my chosen major, and I also selected a pre-med interest. I'm afraid that they will look at that, and look at my low gpa, and think that I'm not a competitive student. Did I shoot myself in the foot/would it have made a difference if I had said undecided or something else?

Depends entirely on the school.

Yeah it depends a great deal on the school and what programs there are more selective. NYU Stern, for example, would be harder to get into that NYU CAS.

Also, some schools don’t allow transfer to change their majors once they are in, although I’m pretty sure that’s not the case at OSU, but it doesnt hurt to check. I was going to apply to Penn nursing (Im a guy) then transfer to Wharton, until I realized they didnt allow transfer to change their majors.
