Does your university have school on MLK day?

Get this...

UNC didn't hold classes for MLK day (fine by me...I don't have Monday classes). However, I was going into school to get some research done for my thesis. Well, the buses were on reduced schedule (Saturday schedule) and don't run out to my apartment on Saturdays. So...I drove to school to park in a lot behind my office. Lo and behold, the gate was down for some reason unknown to me! The parking lot was damn near empty and the gate was down...well I had to drive back to my apartment and get my fiance to drive me into school (thank God he had off work yesterday!). Oh, the joys!

If that isn't enough, this year they actually held classes on Labor Day! C'mon...the buses weren't even running Saturday service and it was a holiday for employees, but I guess faculty doesn't count as an 'employee' for the state (BS!). Last I checked, UNC was a state institution, and I get my paycheck signed by the university...shouldn't it allow ALL of their employees to observe state-recognized holidays? Whatever!

Done with that rant! :)

We were off yesterday. I moved in today. Classes begin Thursday and go straight through until spring break Mar 20-24.
