Doesn't ASU offer full rides any more?

My D got a letter today stating that National Merit Finalists are eligible for “an award of $23,000 renewable for three additional years for a total four-year value of $92,000”.

Do I understand it right that while generous the offer does not actually amount to a full ride even based on current prices, moreover going forward while the cost of tuition, room and board will undoubtedly go up for OOS students, the scholarship amount will remain the same? Or am I missing something?

ASU never did offer full ride in the sense that covers tuition, fees, room and board and other expenses. The $23,000/yr., however, is indeed a very generous scholarship and make attending ASU very affordable for an OOS student. There are other scholarships that you can apply to as a freshman or upper class students and there are outside scholarships as well.

ASU is about 15-25k a year for out of state students, so that's about full ride...

For my son, out of state, the cost would have been about $3000 for this year, before he applied for and was offered an additional scholarship from Barrett. Nearly free, and an amazing opportunity.

Yea but the scholarship amount won't change as tuition/other fees are raised. Make sure to take that into consideration for subsequent years. However, there are so many (meaning A LOT of!) outside/ASU-sponsored scholarships or competitions with cash awards that can provide you with extra funding.
