DD had major course conflict this (Sr) year and couldn't fit AP Italian into her schedule. But she still wants to prepare for the language and culture AP exam in May. How does Hopkins view a self-study program like this when weighing an application: positive, negative, neutral? Thanks.

Well it won’t be looked upon as a negative. If the applicant just lists it on his/her application as preparing for the AP exam on their own it would most likely be looked upon as neutral since we will have no record of performance at the time of the application review. If the applicant and guidance counselor provide detail about the student’s process of preparation for the AP exam, then I’d say it would be looked upon as a positive.

Hope that helps.
