Doing Applied Math vs Engineering

How does this affect/hurt job prospects?

Let's say I'm an applied math major with a focus in fluid dynamics/mechanics. Would I be eligible for similar jobs to any engineers?

maybe, but it will be an uphill battle. Just do engineering and take applied math classes as an elective.

Yeah, I think only software engineering and industrial engineering (via operations research) are the only two engineering areas that an applied math major can focus on and not face a battle against actual IE and CS majors.
