Doing bad in a math course... Weighing in options

I'm doing horrible in 3d calc, barely scraping a C- and probably may be wayyy lower now that I just bombed the midterm (20%). Would if be better if I just failed the course and repeated it for a better grade (the repeat policy states for the first 16 units the grade gets replaced...). I'm going to try my best in the final and maybe make it count 50% of my grade by asking my instructor to not count one if my midterm, but would the first option be better (I would need a D to repeat the course)? Please help, I dug myself a very deep hole... :(

Can you still withdraw and get a W? If you can, that’s what you should do. Otherwise, try to pass the class, and move on, unless you’re overly concerned about your grades/GPA otherwise.

Hmm, I haven’t thought about that consideration…

Yeah, I don’t think I can do a withdrawal, but I’ll still ask my counsellor …

You should be able to look it up on your school’s website.

I know for my school, the last day to withdraw and get a W (instead of a WF) was today, but it could easily be different for other schools.

If you can drop with a W I would do that. I’m in a similar position with the expectation of a much lower math course. My university’s last drop date was in the middle of Oct. I thought I was doing much better until this last test where the average was a 60%. The lecture only offered us corrections for 1/3 points back. This test weighted the most after the final.

My gpa is screwed now unless I can pass with a C.
