Doing poorly at the start of sophomore year?

I haven't been doing very well. I am never able to get a 4.0 and it makes me really sad. Everyone I know has perfect 4.0s. Since I can never obtain perfection I keep thinking "Why even try? They'll just always be better than me" I always feel so stupid and inadequate and its made my grades drop. I also moved. Will colleges understand if when I apply counselors put that during this semester I was depressed and moving?

Don’t compare yourself to others. Just because they have 4.0’s doesn’t mean you’re incompetent. Not at all. Just study your notes given to you. Find a study website like quizlet or study something you love. It puts a smile on my face when I know that my hard work will pay off. I don’t think colleges would really consider if you were depressed because many other people have that problem too. Take another perspective and things will start going your way :)

Please get a life, kid. You’re only a sophomore.

Your understanding of the world is poor.

You will never achieve perfection, unless you think a 4.0 is perfection (and then your understanding of the world is truly naive). No one, regardless if his IQ is 200, will achieve perfection. The world has infinitely complex problems, and the only things we, as humans, have solved are the easiest of these problems.

First of all, there’s no such thing as “perfection”. Where’d you get that from? And stop comparing yourself to others. Just because they have a higher GPA doesn’t mean that they’re superior to you.
