hello to everyone. I went on this site about a year ago and posted my stats, like everyone else. after some days i got feedback and suggestions.

I got accepted to the college I wanted to attend in december, with an undecided major ( i picked an undecided major for every college).

Now Im trying to figure out what I want to be when im " grown up". I had that big talk with my parents and told them i dont know what to do. They told me to do something that would automatically give me a job that would pay well.

Then I thought, what happened to doing what you want to do?
lets be serious, jobs in America are going to other people in other countries today. picking a major is such an important factor in your life. I think most kids who are majoring in biology(for example), didnt want to , but had to, because it can lead to jobs. 17 and 18 year old kids dont want to be doctors or dentists or pharmacists but the paycheck is unbelievable.
however someone majoring in art is probably something that, that person loves doing, but who is hiring artists today or in four years.
many kids love sports but most will never be in the nba, nfl or mlb and will have to majorin something else.

No; I think most kids major in what they want, and have their own reasons for choosing their major.

You generally have two years before you have to pick a major; that's often what the first two years of college are for. Some schools will let you design your own major, within parameters.

The only thing that makes sense to do is to do what really moves you, what makes you interested and happy--sure, finances are concerned, but isn't being happy worth infinitely more than any amount you find on your paycheck?

only if your paycheck is big enough to cover basic things like a house and a car, and food...if not, then no, i would way paycheck matters more than doing what you want to do and being happy.

I agree with you guys.
I like natedawg's answer, your paycheck must cover basic things, but if your paying so much money for college, an education, wouldnt you want the basic things plus more?
is doing what you want really worth the money that you have to pay for college during your attendance and maybe after you graduate for a paycheck that can give you" basic things".
but if your doing what you love, would it even it out?
