i thought i did better the second time around since i basically didnt take the first time seriously, but i just found out I did worst. how will colleges look at that?
first time i got 1610
and second time i got 1580
they will take the highest score right? will they be able to see the second score as well?

if you sent scores before taking it the 2nd time, then of course they can see it. However, any score sent after that will contain both scores.

That happened to me, then I took it a third time and scored 60 points higher than the first. :P Yours scores are fairly similar, so I doubt colleges will look at it badly, most just take your highest scores. :P

The scores are 30 points apart. They are practically the same. Colleges that require the SAT will generally take the best combined score, if that helps. All these two scores prove is that you are in the 1600 range, the second reenforcing the first.

Try the ACT instead. You may get a higher score.

When you report your scores colleges SEE both scores however they do not take note of the lowest. They take your highest math score, highest CR, and highest writing score, regardless of sitting, add them up, and use that as your score. It is good for you and good for their statistics. Don't worry if you did worse, it cannot hurt you.

I agree with the other comments. Don't sweat it! Were any of the 3 sections higher score the the previous time? If so, for most schools that section will count.

yeah like people have mentioned, 30 points doesnt matter.

i scored 20 points lower in CR, 70+ points in Math (i couldnt believe it) and stayed the same in Writing (thought i did worse)
