Ok.... I am so bad at SAT vocab . I can usually get the first 3 questions right on the vocab section but the last 3 I dont have any idea on what the words mean....... I've taken the advice of others and I have read about 5 books in the last few months ( a lot for me because of my schedule)......... but it didnt help at all.... Everything else is improving.. writing/math/comprehension........ but the vocab is Killing KILLING my C.R. score.......

So what should I do??? IS it worth the 10 15 20 dollars to buy one of those books with 10,000 sat vocab words?

Im really lost and i could use some help......
thanks so much!

possibly take the act
i had the same problem (540 verbal), but took the ACT and got a 34 on reading (ONLY sentence corrections), which is the equivalent of i believe a 760.

I don't know what they're called, but someone puts out books that are like novels except they use a lot of common SAT vocab words (which are in bold in the text). You should look into those, because that sounds like a lot more fun than simply memorizing lists of words. Also, seeing the words in context will probably do you more good than anything else.

My son took both--interestingly he did great on Math (800) on SAT not so great on CR (680), but on the ACT he got 34 on both Reading and English and 30 on Math and Science. So try both--Notre Dame will accept either--but practice really does help.

He thought the vocab wasn't as bad as the "what's the mood or intent" questions. Use Christmas break to bone up. The novels that some one referred to are by Kaplan and they sell them at Borders and Barnes & Nobles. Some were even ones like "Wuthering Heights" and "Jane Eyre," which were on his AP reading list.
