So I am wondering what people's thoughts or suggestions were about donating to a college. Middlebury College is my dream school and I am already planning to apply there as a transfer from another NESCAC school for Fall 2013. Although my stats aren't up to par for Middlebury as far as numbers go but I am involved in extracurricular activities, i've done a lot of community service, I've had a job, but I am also a very hard worker and I want to take on all of the rigor of Midd. But I am so terrified that I won't get in especially since it is so difficult to get into the school as a transfer. Therefore would it help me at all to have my dad donate money to the school to help my chances of getting accepted. It is my number one dream to go there and I want/will do anything to make that happen.

Token payment? No. New building? Couldn’t hurt!

As dodgersmom says, a donation to Midd is only going to help your chances of getting in if your dad has the resources to donate a SIGNIFICANT amount of money, such as enough to build a new building. Even then, I know of students who haven’t gotten in. Even a donation can’t make up for stats that are way below the norm.

Unless your dad is donating a building or something, save your money.

Not a great idea. Do you want to go somewhere knowing that you got in because of something your dad did rather than something you did? Transferring between NESCACs is extremely difficult. If you’re in a NESCAC already then just enjoy where you are. It’s a good school.

Not going to help unless it is 10mil+
