Donner vs Morewood E Tower

Undergound of Morewood > Bigger Better (Smellier?) Dorms of Donner? Or is the Underground not that spectacular? Matter of opinion of course, but I value other's opinions.

Uh… the Morewood Underground is an eating establishment. You order fried food there. You can’t live there. :p

I think he meant if having the underground right in the complex a better trade off than having the bigger rooms of donner.

the underground sucks. i never ate there, but a lot of people do. Idk… i always preferred to walk and get something substantial.

e tower is phenomenal location that you really can’t beat. Obviously if you’re an athlete donner will be closer to most of your facilities, but e tower is one hop from academic buildings, greek quad, and bus stops to help you ■■■■.

Oh. In that case, no, not in my opinion. I might be biased because I’ve lived in Mudge for two years (so I eat a lot of Underground in the wintertime). Underground is great for once-in-a-while chicken fingers or something, but even people who love greasy food get sick of it really easily. There is nothing served there that is not fried or boiled to death.

Donner is right across the street from Resnik, a large eating establishment with several cafes inside, and the food trucks on Maggie Mo street. Even in the middle of winter it’s easy to get over there for food that is much better, frankly.

What food places did they put in Resnik? Last I was on the meal plan there was only Taste of India and a big debate on what should go in its place once they renovate it.

Also, I loved living in Donner my freshman year. Big dorms, never needed to cross a street, and there are all the bus stops offered at Morewood at the corner of Forbes and Margaret Morrison St. The only real downside I felt was being considerably farther from Oakland, so it was a lot more of a schlep to get to Craig St. than if you’re on Morewood.

The Resnik dining area now has Taste of India, Sushi Too, a burger place, a salad place, a chipotle style burrito place, and Carnegie Cafe (basically a breakfast diner). There’s also Tartan Pavillion with pizza and Italian right around the side of the building.

Wow, that would have made living in Donner a lot easier! Did the phase out any of the dining options from the UC? When I was there there was The O on the first floor (went out my senior year), mexican, sushi, a sandwich place, and the equivalent of a Wawa or something plus Schatz on the second floor. I think there was a juice place in the basement, but nobody ever went there.

A little sad the Dunkin Donuts they had talked about didn’t wind up going in to Resnik, though. :(

The O’s gone. Now the UC consists of the sandwich place, a gourmet salad place, a smoothie bar, a vegan/vegetarian healthy place (which actually has epic food), some random grill and a new custom pasta bar.

Si Senor is still on the bottom floor next to Entropy. But Si Senor is a crime against humanity only marginally smaller than the Rwandan genocide.

Si Senor used to actually be up on the second floor near the racquetball courts on the second floor. But, yeah, even back then the food was pretty rough.

I hope Ginger’s and that asian place in Newell-Simon are still around. Also, is Hotdog Guy still camping at the top of the hill in Maggie Mo? Prior to you starting CMU all the food trucks used to be on the hill (instead of near Forbes), and he was always at the top. Apparently before I started there the trucks used to be down near Scaife Hall until CMU chased them to the spot I knew them being. Also, best food is totally the Thai truck that I think is one to the right of Moonlight. I was in Pittsburgh over last summer and I made it a point to actually stop by and get my green curry and basil chicken. (Man, now I want to go back and get some so bad right now.)

Yep, Gingers, Asiana, the hot dog guy, and the food trucks are all still around. The curry is also still good! Hot dog guy has a better spot now so he’s right next to the steps up to Tepper Hall. Gingers has also now been re-dubbed “The Exchange,” but everyone who doesn’t suck still calls it Gingers.

Are all these restaurants you guys are talking about included as meal options? Like, if I have 12 meals a week, can I eat at these places for my meals?

How about this. Morewood E Tower distance to academic buildings vs Donner’s bigger rooms blah blah blah?

First of all, depending on where you’ll spend most of your time, either Donner or Morewood is close. Both are great dorms and seriously, it’s not like living in other dorms will make it that much more difficult to get around campus. The area is relatively small anyway and after a week or two, will feel quite cozy so you really shouldn’t worry about distance.

I personally like Morewood because you can do everything in there without having to leave the building, especially in the winter time. As in, there is a computer cluster, printers, dining place, work-out room, dance-practice room, and elevators. It’s a bit unfair really…what other dorms can offer such amenities?

But as Calvin’s dad wisely put it, the other dorms will: build character.

Everywhere minus the hot dog guy and the food trucks are part of your meal plan.

Here’s the list of all the current dining locations covered by the meal plan:

[Dining Locations-Dining Services - Carnegie Mellon University](http://www.cmu.edu/dining/locations/index.html)

When you and your mom go out and buy clothes for this fall, bring only a couple of your current clothes, the rest can be bought new and should be 1 to 2 size larger.

^
No! I’ve stayed at 160 pounds for the last 3 years and I eat EVERYTHING. I expect to lose weight because I’ll actually work out a bit. I’m too bony…

Me too!! I need to start exercising as well. Exactly 160 pounds for like three years. I need some muscle, but technically muscle weighs more than fat so we’ll actually gain weight :)

^ True. It’s hard to think of gaining weight as a positive thing lol.
