I got Presidential Award for the Academic Excellence. I thought it was a silly thing and worthless. Am I right?

absolutely, you are full of bull-**** and crazy.......J/K

I've never heard of this - do you get it through school or because of high test scores or what?

Yeah, it is pretty worthless. (sorry) We got them in middle school, I think it just means you have a prerequisite GPA, and some good standardized test scores. (80th or 90th percentile). About 10% or 15% of our 8th graders got them. It isn't as bad as the Presidential Award for "Educational Achievement", though - you almost got the Academic excellence award, but you didn't, and some teacher stood up for you, and said you overcame hardship or whatever.

How about an "Illinois State Scholar"?

How about a Venture Scholar? Is it a scam?

LOL GuitarShredder, you're one of a plethora of illinois state scholars. I wouldn't bother telling colleges.

Yes, I figured. But my mother seemed to think that it was some great award.

Any idea what percentage of the Illinois High School pop gets them?

10%

............

er. I got that award too, but i got it in 9th grade...i am pretty sure its worthless

Well for our school, usually 1-3 people receive it per subject, so i don't think it's worthless
