Don't exactly have money to blow

I just found out this tuition is like twice what UCLA and Cal are. My small family doesn't exactly have money to blow. My mom's saving up the money to pay for OOS tuiton counting on me getting into Berkeley. Should I give up on USC as an option then or are they somewhat generous with financial aid?

usc is very generous. its costing me less than berkeley would and i thought that i wouldn't qualify for financial aid... haha.

I'm relieved to hear that. The cost freaked me out a little, since I know college money is an issue for my mom, even though she insists that it's not and that I can go wherever I want. My family is not poor by any definition: if I had 2 parents making what my mom makes, we'd be very well off, but unfortunately only my mom is contributing. I used to have 70k in an account before I was born but I guess my dad blew all that money. Pain in the ass

You will never know how much you actually need to pay until you get your financial aid package. With that said, USC is competitive (generous with financial aid) with the public schools for a lot of people when it comes to the final amount.
