There are 2 forms due 3/16 for Caltech.. one is the supplement, one is the verification form. These both get sent to IDOC.

Look on the Caltech FA page for more info and links.

Oh my goodness, thank-you!!! I didn’t know about these and I just called them and sure enough, we hadn’t sent them in! Many blessings and thanks, crazymomster!

Yeah, I thought so. That post was kind of for you :-).

Thank-you!!! How do you stay on top of things?? I just feel like I’m always one or two steps behind. My husband always teases me that I go on College Confidential but goodness, I would have missed so much if I hadn’t been on CC.

^ It wasn’t me, I didn’t do it Actually S was looking over his notes he put together some time ago and mentioned the additional forms for Caltech.

Thanks as well - I read this yesterday, emailed my husband to look into it (I’m in charge of applications - he’s in charge of Financial Aid in the family! ). Then this evening got an email from Caltech telling us we were missing two forms. Sigh. Just emailed my husband again with a higher sense of urgency!

Here’s the Catch-22 for Cal Tech. They’re only interested in FA forms for admitted students. I checked my son’s IDOC confirmation list and Cal Tech was not listed. I called the FA office at Cal Tech and they said they do not request the IDOC forms until students are actually admitted. When the student is admitted, then they will notify IDOC and have IDOC send out the documents.

When I did the IDOC stuff, I didn’t do the Cal Tech supplement. The FA ladies (very nice ladies, by the way, who answer right away and do not put you on hold for ages like some other schools!) told me that I could fax or scan and email that document directly to FinAidDoc@caltech.edu and get it done with. That way if my son is admitted, they will already have it.

P.S. The FA ladies verified that Cal Tech will be announcing decisions very soon. They like to get the jump on rival MIT who has announced its usual Pi Day decision date (3/14).

Do they still require this from waitlisted applicants?

@Karen 456 - How did you check the IDOC confirmation list?

@xanthosine: I don’t think they figure FA for waitlisted students, but I’m not sure. I suggest calling the FA office. ('Tis now moot for my son as he was just rejected from Caltech)

@miruth: Log in to your IDOCs. It brings up the list of schools to which they sent your docs.
