Hi jayz26!

I'll chance you ... but can you return the favor? <a href="http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/538677-please-chance-me-i-d-really-really-appreciate-3.html%5B/url%5D">http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/538677-please-chance-me-i-d-really-really-appreciate-3.html</a></p>

You sound like a pretty funny guy from what I see on your post. Your title is even better ... be yourself!! Too many people these days try to market themselves to colleges as perfect packages.

Anyways, I'm gonna start off by saying that I'm not an admission officer, so don't live by what I say here on this post ... it's based on what I know. Your 3.98 is very very very good ... but I'm sure that B kinda hurts because it cost you that 4.0 ... right? JK! Your SAT of 2320 is awesome -- please don't retake it! I see that you're applying to alot of top schools in the US -- most top schools such as Yale and Cornell require applicants to take 3 SAT Subjects. Based on your post, I don't see any SAT Subject Scores. If you did, generally, you should aim for a 650-700+, as SAT Subjects are only used as supplements to college apps. Your ACT is very good at 33, but I suggest that you save money and not send in your ACT score because your SAT score is already very good. You've taken 10 APs so far and will have 16 APs by the time you graduate ... that's very impressive ... you've broken the record of 14 (the most I've seen so far on CC). Taking an AP as a freshman shows initiative, so I'm sure that colleges won't look down on you for that. Your ECs are highly impressive, and you demonstrate leadership in them ... and yes, it's a very rare thing to play the violin (lol). Your awards are extremely impressive, and the Intel ISEF award will definitely help you out in admissions. Your summer internship and Brown experience will help alot (btw what kind of summer program was that ... can you PM me about that?)

Overall, you're an impressive student. You should be immensely proud of what you've done in high school. You've accomplished alot and you'll go far in college admissions.

Ze Chances!
Harvard/Yale: Slight reach (your Intel ISEF will help, I really think)
Columbia: ditto
UPenn Wharton: Match
Cornell: Safety match
UChicago: It depends on your essay ... but your stats are above average compared to Uchicago's stats. If you want comments on your essay, feel free to PM me b/c I'm also applying to UChicago and I've already finished my essay.
Berkeley: In with possible Regents scholarship
Northwestern: Safety

Good luck, and remember to chance me too and PM me? Thanks!

I think you have a shot at Harvard and Yale. A really good shot. Columbia, Cornell, U of Chicago, Berekeley and Northwestern you have a even a better chance at getting in. Great test scores, GPA, ranking, and ECs. But I must disagree with what ab2013 said about Wharton and Cornell. He said Wharton was a match- I don't think Wharton is a match for any applicant whatsoever. People with perfect SATs, perfect GPAs, and valedictorians are rejected all the time. But I think you have a very strong shot at it. And ab2013 said that Cornell was a safety/match? Cornell is not a safety for the top students in the country, but I think you can definitely get in. But I would not say its a safety.

I'm also applying to Wharton. Could you chance me?
<a href="http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/534608-applying-wharton-there-any-chance.html%5B/url%5D">http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/534608-applying-wharton-there-any-chance.html</a></p>

Update:
I have taken two SAT Subject Tests, and haven't done ridiculously well on either of them

SAT II US History: 750
SAT II Biology: 730

I'd really like to get an 800 or two! But don't we all!

Btw, aairzoom34, thanks for saying I have a shot at Harvard and Yale. I really didn't think so, because compared to the kids with 4.0s and Intel STS at my school, I feel so inadequate sometimes! Of course, most of my accomplishments are in a different realm... as in not science and math... Do you think this will help me differentiate myself as a non-typical Asian applicant?

I think it will to a certain extent, but I wouldn't put any money on it. Where do you want to apply ED?
