So I've read at least a couple dozen threads about housing on here and still can't decide where I want to bunker down. My rankings for what I'm looking for the most in a dorm is:
1. Social
2. Average Rooms at minumum
3. Location

If anyone on here could give me some direction based on those 3 things it would be greatly appreciated. And by the way GO NOLES!

You won’t be taking business classes until probably earliest Sophomore year, so you don’t really need to be near the business school (the Rovetta Buildings). Probably most of your classes (for pre-requisites for business) are going to be in HCB and Bellamy, which are central campus, right next to the Union. If you’re looking for social I would highly recommend living in a community-style dorm, even though they’re old, and not the best-looking. Dorman is in a good spot, and not too bad. Kellum I’ve heard isn’t actually as bad as it sounds. Salley seems really social, and I know a lot of people there. The room layout in Salley is nice too. It’s close to the Leach and has tennis and sand volleyball courts right by it, but it is probably one of the furthest from the Union/other main buildings. It’s close to most of the science buildings. Honestly though everything is a max 10 minute walk from each other. You’ll find shortcuts fast, and if you have a bike you’ll get everywhere much faster, though it’s hard to navigate through people sometimes! The main thing I’d say is really the suite-style dorms are not nearly as social as the community-style ones. Though I like my privacy, I really wish I had gone with a community-style dorm. Also if you’re rushing, Dorman and Deviney are the closest community-style dorms to all of the houses. I’d also recommend taking a FIG (Freshman Interest Group, you’ll learn about that when you do orientation), as a great way of meeting people and easily choosing your courses.
I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any more questions.
