Don't know what to take senior year!

My school is on block schedule (meaning one takes one WHOLE class in one semester for one credit) except for A.P. classes, which are mostly two semesters. Because we have only four classes or "blocks" per day, we have to take A.P.'s on alternating days. O.K. here's problem only one alternative can work:
AP Literature
AP American Gov
AP Art History
AP Calculus AB/ AP Statistics/Hon. Calculus
Hon. Spanish IV (fall) /AP Spanish (spring)
AP Physics
or
dido, except AP Euro instead of Spanish classes
The thing is I LOVE history and plan on majoring in it, so I want to take Euro and have a solid 4 years (took AP world soph yr. 5 on nat'l exam & am now taking AP U.S.) BUT I have heard that colleges want four yrs. of F.L. & I am pretty sure that I can pull off a 5 sr. yr. and get credit, so I won't have to take Spanish in college @ UChicago, my dream school :)
Well I might as well ask on the same thread, not sure what math to take. I got a B- in precal last semester ( I pulled up from a 69, after countless hours of studying) and am not sure If I can handle AP cal, I have a B+, now in precal, if that helps...
Thanks, ya'll

Bump!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think you should keep the Foreign Language.
If anything, I would be more worried about Physics...pretty tough class.
I took AP Euro as a soph, and I liked it a lot...a MUCH better class than Art history, so I would choose that over art history.

But I have to take art history because I go to a magnet achool, where you need a fine arts to graduate. Any advice for math situation?

Does your school require you to take/have taken calculus with AP physics? Some do.

"But I have to take art history because I go to a magnet achool, where you need a fine arts to graduate"

Oh i see, sorry

no, my school does not require me to take physics with calculus, but I took a.p. physics b last semester @ different school, but could not get last half of it b/c my school was behind. So my B- :( is still going to be on my transcript. I don't want to drop ap physics and take honors b/c i think it looks bad (slacking off?) plus I heard it helps to take both simultaneously.

But about math any one out there who didn't do so well in precal (B grade) but taking ap cal AB or BC? how's it going for ya? I'm trying to decide between
hon cal, ap cal or ap stats.

Thanks in advance for your reply!

Stick with the Spanish. Colleges like the depth in one subject according to our school's counselor. Besides, you will get all kinds of interesting history courses in college - much better than the ones you will get in high school. Get the Spanish out of the way so you can focus on history in college.

Thanks, ricegal, that's what I was leaning towards!

I took Honors Precal last year. First semester I got an A, second semester I got a B.

Taking BC this year, I got an 89.43 (so close to an A), so I don't think it's too bad. It really depends on your school.

It also depends on how well the math teachers teach. Ask some people who have taken the classes before.

My son made A's in PreCalc and he made a B in Calc BC his first semester. Doesn't like the teacher at his school plus he is finding it pretty hard. He wishes he had taken Calc AB. I think it depends on the teacher and the school.

I'm someone who does very well in math and hates history, so I assume what I want to do is the exact opposite of you.

I took calculus my junior year because AP Statistics seems worthless to me, because it's so easy. All they do is fly paper airplanes, throw stuff off roofs, and plot stuff on graphs. That said, I think you should take AP Statistics. Why? Because it's more Langauage Arts than math, and Calculus favors people who have natural math talent--it's more theory than concrete math.

In regards to Spanish/Euro I would say you should take Euro. I'm in 3rd year German, and my teacher says the next two years are just review of grammar and learning some new vocab. I would assume its the same for spanish (you can always ask the teacher), in which case, it's essentially worthless.

Since AP Euro is similar to your major, I'd say it's more important, anyway.

Hope this is helpful, lol

^ It is thanks! I think I am going to take stats, I talked to people currently in the class and their course description was similar to yours! As for Spanish and Euro. I still have to talk to past and current students of both classes before registration!

Thank ya'll for your replies!!
