Don't Know where to go UT A&M or Baylor

I am looking to start Pre Med but not sure which school would be best to go to. I have the opportunity for University of Texas, Texas A&M and Baylor University.

Also are their major differences between UT and A&M as they are both publics schools? Anyone go to any of these schools that can give their opinion on the classes and teachers?

Thanks

Doug, spend a weekend on each campus. You'll know which one is right for you.

I can share what I know...:)

UT has a reputation for being more liberal and diverse, A&M conservative and homogeneous. I've heard the A&M students are very, very friendly and that walking through UT campus is a bit like walking through a city and a bit impersonal. UT is obviously in a city and A&M isn't? haha. Baylor is a religious school, but not in your face religious.

My friend's older sister is going to Baylor and loving it, and many (and i mean a lot) of the class of 08 from my school has visited A&M and fell in love with the campus, the people, and the teachers. I haven't heard much about UT.

But I agree with curmudgeon, only you can decide what you want out of your college experience. :)

Texas has a better football team.

Not Friday it didn't. : (

I bleed burnt orange all the way but thankfully missed this game.

I agree with making visits. They're all close to each other, by Texas standards, with Waco about 90 minutes north of Austin and TAMU about 2 hours east. I've been on each campus, though I've only spent a significant amount of time at UT. I think they are quite different.

Yeah, they are all different. You really should visit each campus. UT is huge, so many people, sometimes it is overwhelming. People are not that outgoing, but it's not impossible to make friends. Classes are huge, not that difficult. I would say UT or Baylor would be your best bet.

oh and yeah. that game was SO PAINFUL to watch.

ut honors.

Well for the past 8 years Ive spent almost every summer staying in UT dorms for soccer, and I can tell you the campus isn't that friendly, its a large city but its not hard to make friends and have a great time. The people at UT are really nice, once you get to know them. The dorms are awful though, just fyi.
Texas A&M I dont have much experience with, but i hear its an ok school. Baylor is what im here to represent, as I will be attending Baylor next fall (YAY!) and though I've heard it can get very boring in Waco, its not hard to find somehing to do, and besides the lack of crazy parties every weekend (only every other) will keep you more focudes on you studies. But in the end its all up to you.

biolinz, BU does a good job of getting their kids into med school. Work hard. Be active and involved with the science profs. You'll be o.k..Of course, that applies to the other two schools, also. The difference will be social and lifestyle. I still think a person will know in a hurry which one they like.

As a non-Texan I have to say that Baylor has the best reputation of the three.

uhh ut obviously has the best rep out of the three. so many ppl confuse baylor in waco with the med school

lol um, yeah as a Texan, I must say UT definatly has the best reputation, but does that really matter? I think not.

i heard that baylor makes you take religious classes and go to church every Wednesday? Is this true or just some crap i picked up.

I'm not that familiar with modern practice but "Chapel" on Wednesday is not church. It is more of a churchy "assembly". I think Old and New Testament are still required courses. They are taught from a historical, scholarly perspective. BU makes no bones about being a church affiliated school. That's part of what I've been saying. A pierced Wiccan into retro-punk Zydeco bands is probably not going to be that happy at A+M or Baylor but may find their folks at UT. It's not a right or wrong issue. It's largely a matter of personal taste.

they do have mandatory religious class

If i am not baptist will that create a hard time with the class? Does the class actually count towards GPA or is it just like take it and be done with it. I tried a search on their site and didn't see anything about the religious classes does anyone have a link with more details.
