Don't know which school to go to..

I got into two very different schools, Univ of Redlands in CA and St. Lawrence Univ in NY.
I know SLU has better academics and what not but it's so far away from home (I live in CA) and I can barely handle CA winter( i'm not built for the cold lol). It's also really rural and I don't think I'd like that very much. Meanwhile UR is closer to home, in nice and and warm CA and it's location is ideal for me (sorta close to the beach but not really). The education there is not as good as SLU but I'm really not digging the whole cross-country move...or deadly winters..or commute from the airport to the school..
I'd really like to stay in California but SLU is a better school..

I know I should put my studies first but shouldn't I also be happy and in love with the school I go to?
And now I'm just really confused and have so many mixed feelings.
opinions??

Have you visited St. Lawrence? What do the costs look like for each school?

I don’t understand how you ended up with this choice. You don’t like the cold, a rural environment, or the idea of being far from home. So what in heavens name made you apply to St. Lawrence out of all the schools out there?

I think your decision is easy. It’s a cliche, but college really is what you make of it. You can get a great education at Redlands by seeking out challenging courses and research and internship opportunities and by working hard. And St. Lawrence isn’t so prestigious or widely known that it will mean more on you resume, especially if you want to live on the West Coast.

Which is the cheapest? If it’s Redlans, then your decision is made for you.
But if you don’t like rural and cold, then why did you apply to SLU???
