I feel like I'm a bit alone in this belief but I feel that if you're really confused about what you want to do then a core curric. is better for you. It forces you to take classes in a variety of subjects and maybe you'll find something that you really like. I feel like Brown would be better for someone that has a clear cut passion, after all, why force someone that absolutely loves Classics to take Differential Equations? That's just my feeling however but I have to agree with Spiker. I too was really confused and switched majors and professional dreams tens of times in a matter of months. I picked a school with distributional requirements which aren't as strict as a true core but I def like it.

I think Brown works either way, if you don't know what you want to do, it truly allows you to take a variety of courses without having to worry about fulfilling general requirements. I don't think it especially is better if you are sure or unsure about what you want to do, I just prefer it. But I don't think its necessarily better or worse for the original poster (even though really I think its better for everyone.)

Another thing I am concerned about...

Dont some schools look down on you (or become suspicious) for tryign to switch into a different field.. or school within the college?

For example.. lets say I get into x school which is good for x-subject.. at the time I was interested on x-subject.. now I am not.. and I am basically "screwed".. because x-school doesnt offer a good progam for y-subject, which is what I like now =/

The other scenario... I get into x-school.. which is good for x-subject.. but I decide I want to focus on y-subject, now.. the school is a top tier school.. and it's basically impossible for me to switch into this program because of it's very selective nature.. now I could have gone to a very good program in another school for what I like now (not as good as x-school but still decent and better then what I am stuck with now) .. but instead I have to stick with x-school which offers the program I like but which I cant get into
