Don't mean to be pretentious, but safety?

Well, there are about 37000 students apply to NYU so it is kind of competitive. NYU is certainly not a safety school although there is a high chance you can get in. But 100%, i don't think so :).

Can I apply to more than one school? I was planning on Tisch, but could I apply to both Tisch and CAS as back-up?

You can NEVER count Tisch as a safety, and you can only apply to one school.

Tisch is a safety for nobody unless you're a celebrity. I'd hesitate to call it a safe safety for you, probably a mid to low match.

Tisch is more audition-based anyway so it's even more unpredictable than CAS admissions.

Illinois, Penn state your are a shoo in, U of R is a great school (ranked right under NYU in US News) with highly qualified applicants BUUUUUUT a lot fewer kids attend U of R who get in (it's alot a great students Safety) but it's so close in caliber as NYU I'd still qualify at Great match/low safety.

Seems like you're having trouble finding schools between the "Penn States" and the NYU/U of R's...how bout Wisconsin? or Syracuse, or BU or Emerson?

I loved NYU.

Their Financial Aid representatives are absolutely great, and NYU actually gave me more grant money than all of my top LACs.

I applied to NYU as a safety school, although I had a strong hook.

kwu, your strong hook was?.........

Okay, forget Penn State; I'm not a hardcore partier/football person. And I looked up Wisconsin and Emerson, but the lack of diversity is a problem (I'm Asian). I'm not feeling BU and Syracuse for some reason haha

Soo, my two safety schools that i've settled on:
UIllinois and SUNY Binghamton. Binghamton would be safety for me, right?

yep, I think Binghamton is a safety for you - NYU was a reach for me, and I considered Binghamton a high safety, so for you it definitely is.

What ACT score range is NYU looking for?

what would you be applying to Tisch for? I don't think Tisch is a reliable safety, like people have said it is very competitive and 1/2 talent based, demonstrated by your audition or portfolio, which you haven't mentioned in your description about yourself. It's a great choice though, you should definitely apply!
