Don't Take AP Classes + Retake Gen Ed. Courses for 4.00 GPA?

Hi.

I'm taking 5 AP Classes right now, I do well in these classes but previous years aren't really stellar.

Is it wise to retake these classes in college? (Calc I & II, eng, lit, stats, etc) to get that 4.00 GPA and transfer out after 2 semesters?

What do you think/

Take hard classes. It’s more impressive that way.

Don’t assume you’ll be able to get a 4.0

I would work hard and pass as many of those AP classes as possible, especially physics, biology, calculus BC, chemistry, if those are the ones that you’re currently taking. Luckily, I passed out of all those classes so I didn’t have to retake them at the university. Trust me, my friends had to retake these classes, such as physics and biology, which are neither easy nor fun. Many of my friends are at the top of their classes in many upper level courses such as organic chemistry, genetics, Calc III etc, but first year physics and/or biology killed their GPAs. As LogicWarrior said, do not assume you’ll get a 4.0 in these classes, especially since larger universities tend to use these classes as ‘weed out’ courses. Best of luck and study hard on those APs!
