Don't under estimate the UC system...

hello I am a newly transfered math major here at UCI.

I just finished my midterms and I must say. They were really hard stuff. They will always give you more work than you have time for they have it set up so only the very very best will do well.

UCI you have my mad respect.

Man I’m really worried whats going to happen after I transfer. Whether its UC Irvine or UC Berkeley I think I’m gonna be whipped big time.

oh gawdddddd. =[ this is bad for me.

1st semester experience at Cal in nutshell:

I find the material is harder, but the class atmosphere and amount of work involved similar to CC. I don’t think their was a huge transition going from CC to Cal. If you have good study and time management skills, you’ll do fine.

I think its way too exaggerated the difficulty of CC vs UC. People who went straight to the UC’s after high school always brag about how hard they have it and how cake it is at a CC. Don’t listen to them. I found it so much easier at the UC than back at my old CC. The exams here are m/c and takes you like 30 min to finish. Back at the CC I remember I had exams that actually took the full 2 hours to finish and they were actually very challenging. So far its been so cake, A+'s across the board. I think its just about the study and time management skills you develop at your CC. If you have good study and time management skills you should be fine where ever you go. Oh and don’t be the type of student who goes on ratemyprofessor and takes the easy A classes either. You need to challenge yourself to develop these skills.

So far, I have seen all the good students at my CC are doing well at the UC and the mediocre students and slackers are the ones having trouble (Lots of B- ers).

And its about the your major too. If your coming from science/math/engineering major, you already have the rigorous experience of going through those pre-reqs and know what it takes to actually do well. The thing I see are the students who have the majors with the really easy pre-reqs that are having the most trouble. A lot of my econ transfer friends are getting straight B-'s their first quarter here and they had like 3.7+ at the CC.

^^100% agree with iTransfer

^ How has you experience at UC been so far laker?

^^It was easy. Mr first semester i went to UCI and left to go to CC to transfer to Cal. i only took GE classes tho, not any business classes.
both UCI and CC was easier than my high school

That’s why when I transfer I’m only starting off with 3 classes. I don’t want to be terribly overwhelmed my first quarter.
