I never even planned to take ACT, and the couple of schools that I looked over usually just require SAT I and Subjects, but ACT can be taken in lieu of those. HOWEVER. I do not feel like putting myself through studying for one more standardized test, because I think just trying to ace the SATs will keep me busy enough on top of all the APs and school stuff.

So should I take the ACTs? I mean it's not like I'm lazy or anything. If it's better for me to take it, I will sit down and try to see what I can do, but If I don't absolutely have to take it....

Also, does any school JUST want the ACT? Maybe my search wasn't thorough enough....

The vast majority of schools these days will take the SATI+SATII or the ACT(+Writing). There is no need to take both, unless perhap there is a scholarship you want to apply for which specifies a test (e.g. you have to take the SAT for the National Merit one, and there apparently are some scholarships which require the ACT)

There might be a few schools in the Mid-West (since that's where the ACT seems to be more popular) that only accept the ACT, but they are few and far between.

I heard McDonalds is hiring.

jk :)

If you are generally a good standardized test taker I recomend taking it. I thought the same thing you did and just got my scores from June. I got a 33 composite and literally did no prep. If you do poorly, don't send your scores anywhere and no school has to know you ever took them. If you do well, then send them. You don't really have anything to lose except the registration fee.

Do you have to study for the science part or is it pretty basic?

If you can quickly analyze data you should be fine. I did no prep for science and got a 29 on it because i didn't finish so if you are quicker than me than you can do great.
