Don't you feel a bit baffled when...

2100 is definitely good enough to get into any school (obviously not alone, but neither will any SAT score unless the college isn't great).

I think a 2100 is something definitely to be proud of..

we are more than sat scores :P

Wow i feel like i am the dumbest person on CC, yes the dumbest!!! I got 1860 on SAT and i am asian!!!!!!!! maybe i should go to HomeStay College.....

Thank you guitarman89. Everyone is always speaking as if legacies and URMs are the reasons that schools don't have a 2350 median or something. Just saying, not completely true.

Umm legacy at UPenn and URM. My score isn't a 2350 but it isn't horrible. 2050 - I think that shows that I'm as qualified as any other candidate. Bottom line, SAT scores can't make or break you. Of course, if you have a 1700 you're not getting into Harvard (probably). But I suppose I stand with those of you saying a 2100 is an excellent score (seeing as how I didn't even get that). The adcoms at those schools know that standardized tests are basically a game. They might not show that you're smart, but just that you prepared for it an obnoxious amount.

Sorry, a 2100 from an unhooked candidate makes an ivy highly unlikely. Anyone posting otherwise, please cite your source. Take a look at the common data set for any ivy to see it's not true.

Correlation doesn't imply causation. The common data set can't be used to suggest a 2250+ implies a higher chance of acceptance. It's entirely possible other factors are at play.

Example, maybe more prestigious ECs imply higher chances, but those with prestigious ECs also have high SAT scores, or those who have high schores have prestigious ECs.

hmom5, define "unhooked." According to princeton review, 2100 is within range. Perhaps for I really don't think the scores are the most important factor. They are basically just saying that you're competitive enough to be considered with the other candidates. Just applying to an ivy makes it highly unlikely that you'll get in. (In HYPS you've got like a 90+ chance of rejection. In the other cases it's 80+). They just aren't the most important part of your app.

You have to wonder who is coming on here to say that this score is bad or this score is bad. Are you all adults or are you students? Either way, anyone who says that a 2100 is a bad score or a score that won't get you into the top Ivies is wrong. I have a 2000 and that didn't stop me from applying to any ivies and I don't think that the SAT will crush any hope of me attending their school. There are many kids who have attended ivies with scores lower than mine and I know of TONS of valedictorians/2400 SAT people who have been flat out rejected from a certain school. If any of you are an admissions officer, maybe you have a say but other than that, you can't tell what gets you in or keeps you out. 2100 is an awesome score.
