Hey,

Just wondering any tips current USC students have for incoming freshmen. What are some things you wish you would have known/did as an incoming freshmen yourself?

Never pick a class early in the morning thinking you can change your normal sleeping habits. Chances are, it won't work and you'll end up oversleeping a lot :)

If you bring a bike to USC, you're obviously going to need a lock. Regarding this, I think it's important to keep at least two things in mind: 1) You're going to be better off with a U-lock than a cable lock. 2) Always try to lock your bike to a bike rack (so that thieves or DPS can't take away your bike as easily). Actually, there are a few more things to keep in mind, haha. 3) Try to lock your bike not only to a bike rack, but also around the frame of your bike. If you lock only your wheel to the bike rack, then there's a chance that thieves will steal your bike minus one wheel. It sounds funny, but it does happen. 4) Register your bike with DPS. If I remember correctly, it's only $3 for the year, and they can't take away your bike on the basis of registration.

Bikes do get stolen with noticeable frequency, but I think that common sense greatly reduces the odds of getting it stolen.
