S19 won the Dooley Award during Pre-College (Dramatic Writing). I’m hoping it helps his app stand out, but I don’t know for sure.
Anyone know if this award helps acceptance chances at Emory?

Congratulations to your son!
I have no knowledge about the specific impact of receiving that award but it’s something that Emory admissions would certainly know about.
It would make a nice why Emory essay topic to the extent it brings in your son’s interest in screenwriting, Emory’s strengths in that area, what he submitted to the contest, etc.
Officially, Emory takes the position that it doesn’t give weight to any applicant’s expressed interest in the school. However, year after year, Emory accepts a much higher percentage in ED1 (different from ED2) and a significant percentage of each class is comprised of ED1 applicants.
Are you and your son familiar with the role of Dooley (Lord of Misrule) on Emory’s campus?

Thanks for the encouragement! He enjoyed his time on campus and his stay at Turman - new, safe, and generally clean. (Are the other dorms similar?)
I didn’t know the history behind the famous skeleton thanks for sharing the links.
S19 would be applying via QB RD. Emory accepts slightly more QB applicants than most partner schools, but it’s still significant reach.
The newer dorms are nicer but they’re all safe and clean.
If your son is applying RD, he might consider putting himself in the running for the Emory Scholars’ half/full scholarship program, which has a November deadline.
