I had the good fortune to be able to pop in at Williamstown this weekend, and saw something amazing. All of the exterior door handles have been removed from the older buildings on the science quad (Physics, Chemistry, etc.). Drunken football players?....No. Security concerns?....No. Political Correctness run amok in the Massachusetts legislature?....Apparently. As it was explained to me, a new Massachusetts law requires that any entryway that is unaccessible to people in wheelchairs must now be unaccessible to all. So, to access any of the main science buildings, one must now use the new entry to the science building, which has no steps (the others have three steps). Which has the effect of forcing all science students through the wheelchair-friendly entrance, causing crowding. My daughter also mentioned that there is at least one person who used to be able to park in a handicapped space and walk (using his canes) up a pair of steps into a doorway directly adjacent to his parking space. Now he must add several hundred yards to his trek.

The good news: The former entry doors are still allowed to be used as emergency exits by all, regardless of abledness/disabledness.

Just when I was thinking of retiring to Cape Ann...

Ouch! Leave my state alone! At least our new governor won't tour the country saying how much he hates us or cut the budget to screw his successor! I'm looking forward to a change.

Potus;
I've been a Kennedy backer since the 60's. I saw Jack in a parade a few months before he was killed.
(And yes, we had a picture of him in our living room.)
I'm from Mass and I realize the loss of Jack and Bobby is like losing family. What the rest of the country doesn't realize is that the a large percentage of the state of Mass. is in mourning to this day.

Romney is a political whore who is using his disingenous position in Mass. as a springboard to propel his presidential run. He doesn't want to be governor.
He Never Did!
He's an opportunist who is capitalizing on the current lack of political leadership in this state and the US in general.

Like a large percentage of the Mass voters, I'm an independent.
