Are we allowed to put up hooks on the bathroom door or do they constitute some huge violation of the fire safety rules?

you cannot put anything on doors: posters, hooks mirrors etc. this includes doors within suites.

No posters on doors? Blotz!
At least on walls?

such : I'm certain you can't put it on the door to your room. Bathroom doors - not sure but I would imagine the same rule would apply.
Revan : I think you can! As long as you're not damaging the walls in putting them up.

we cant even have corkboards! i am very sad

you can't put anything on any door (other than closet doors- i think you can put them on closet doors) no posters, no hooks, no mirrors.

you can put all those on the walls- and you can put corkboard on the walls as well- just not outside your room.

they theink that we, as princeton students, are too stupid to know where the doors out of a room are in an emergency unless they are totally without any adornment. It's stupid- but they are serious with their fines

hmm i emailed my RA and she said that the only corkboard/bulletin boards allowed are the ones already installed by the school. Is she wrong?

you can put up whatever you want on the walls of your room, just like posters...however you are responsible for damage you cause to the walls. you cannot put corkboard/bulletin boards outside of your room.

what the hook gona be? I don't need no f ing hook on this beat

WHAT?? I already bought a mirror to hang on my door and a whiteboard for outside my room. Argghhhh

Great

they provide a whiteboard for outside a room, but u can always have another in your room. i got like a mirror calendar/memo board that has orange writing that's pretty spiffy. and you can hang the mirror on ur closet door. :D

Well I already bought TWO whiteboards, one was intended for outside my door.

You can still put a whiteboard up next to your door! We originally had ours on the door, got warned by the fire inspectors and had to move it right next to it. As long as it isn't on the door, its fine.

I have a feeling that their concern is that something on the door will catch fire... and block the exit... as opposed to disorienting a student... but that's just a feeling

no- it says in the fire code that the "means of egress" may not be blocked so as not to be disorienting in an emergency, or something to that natrue

Not all rooms have whiteboards installed, so you may yet find a use for yours. Just hang the mirror on the wall.

How do you hang it on the wall? I thought we weren't allowed to make any marks/dents.

use the sticky stuff housing gives you when you move in.... a lot of the sticky stuff

I've used nails, and never got fined. Just don't use big nails, and don't try to fix the holes with anything.
