Dorm Advice

Can I get anyone's insight/advice/tidbits on each of these following dorms? Also which campus would you advise staying on? East campus or west campus? I kind of want a quiet atmosphere where I can be social on my own terms sort of, haha. Anyway - thanks in advance!

East Campus:
Beaty Towers (currently my favorite choice), Sledd Hall, Fletcher Hall (community service)

West Campus:
Hume - Do you still have to be an Honors student? I heard that this has been changed. I was also considering Lakeside, but I don't want to be terribly out of way to reach my campus, I anticipate a lot of 5-minutes-before-class awakenings.

you can try and apply for Hume. they may accept you if they have room. if they don't have alot of honor students applying for Hume.

What are you planning to major in?

Beaty, rooms are really small.
Community service, lol, ignore that part...zero to none
Hume- still honors, unless opennings...usually none
Murphree would be a great hall for you, but as of right now there are only 27 spaces left...and thats without freshman placement I think.

I know there are 27 left for student returning next year. I think housing actually reserve spots for freshman, but dont quote me on that.

Political science - international relations and Japanese possibly. I think I'm settling for Beaty Towers since the deadline is 3/5/07 for the contract.

I like Beaty Towers, some people don't, but I think they're pretty cool. And did you know they're the tallest buildings in Gainesville? :)

Beatty has a cool layout but the rooms are really small (like 9 X11) for two people. Most kids leave the beds bunked so they have some room in their bedrooms. Only one desk is in the bedroom, the other is in the common area. It's great having the Beatty market downstairs. My daughter, who lives in Broward (cause she loves the 5 min walk to class) frequently uses her gator 1 card (declining balance) to get quick groceries at Beatty. It is expensive (more than Publix) but very convenient.
