Dorm Bed ?

Do any current students know if the dorm beds can be lofted?

I am NOT referring to bunk beds - where both beds in the room are bunked together like typical bunks beds.

We visited the dorm rooms during Orientation, and I saw that the mattress frame can be raised and lowered. And, at the highest position seemed like it was at around 30-35 inches high. That is nice, that they can be raised, and our son, at a minimum plans to raise to the highest level (to allow room for guitars, footlocker, etc, underneath).

My son heard from guys, when he spent the night at the Scholarship Interviews back in Feb/March 2006, that the beds can be lofted. He heard that it can be raised high enough to put the desk or dresser underneath the bed.

Can anyone confirm that this is possible, and is it allowed?

thanks

When you raise the frame to the highest level, the dresser will fit in underneath. I've also seen a room where they put the fridge under the bed as well. And if you need the bed to be a little bit higher, get some bed raisers, should add about 6 inches.

thanks for the information.

Yes, it's possible and allowed. However, you might need to submit a Work Order to Housing because they have the required materials and tools to do it. I've heard that you could have to wait several weeks before they get to you (especially at the beginning of the year), so if you can, request it early.
