dorm bedding/supplies

Where is everyone shopping for their bedding/supplies and about how much are you spending?

Originally, when i got my stuff, it was at walmart.

I like the site Wake Up Frankie for bedding- they even have the extra long twin size that you need for college dorms. That’s where I plan on buying my comforter and stuff. Other than that, I’ll probably be doing my shopping at the Container Store, Ikea, and Target. So excited!

Sounds great! Thanks!

Target, Wal-Mart and Kohls are all beginning to stock dorm-sized bedding for the coming year. My daughter just found a twin XL comforter and mattress pad on clearance at Target (comforter was $14 and mattress pad was $6). The comforter is probably “last year’s style” - but who cares? :)

I got most of my stuff at Target and Walmart. I think i got a few things on sale at TJ Maxx as well.

They’ve got some great packages form $200-300? I believe. Sheets, pillows, comforter, topper, etc.
I’m going up north, and there is no way we’ll be driving there…So instead of scrambling to buy everything up there when all the other college kids are…I think I’ll just order here and have them ship to school.

If you stalk TJ Maxx and Marshalls, you’ll find really good sets. I got a 9 piece all-inclusive set for $39 there and it’s great quality and legitimately cute. It’s also a lot easier than individually buying a comforter, sheets, pillowcases, etc because this way, everything is covered.

Last year, I got the crate of stuff from Bed, Bath, and Beyond and I was really happy with it. It was really good quality and a decent deal for everything that I got. I’m planning on using it all again next year and currently have all of my bedding on my bed right now at home.

Just an FYI, I know I tossed a lot of my bedding after 1-2 years of use, just because beds get used as couches so things get spilled, dirty, gross, etc. Even washing my sheets every week and comforter every month or so, things fade/bleed since they’re lower quality, etc. I always just bought the Target comforters for like $40 that way if they got damaged/spilled on, I didn’t feel bad about tossing them at the end of the year

Keep in mind that if you order anything from Bed Bath and Beyond, you can buy it at the store near you, and pick it up at the one near school.

I’m living in a townhouse this year so there will be different needs and I’m sure I’ll be making my rounds there again.

My daughter and her roommate just got their bedding from a new company called American Made Dorm. They have stylish high quality fabrics and the two girls were able to pick out a valance and bedskirt to match. They liked the fabric choices but I like that everything on the site is made in America. We had it shipped to home but they said that we could ship to school.

I got my comforter set from Target online ($25) - it was on clearance and knowing that no other girl would have the same one sealed the deal! I bought my sheets from Bed, Bath, & Beyond for $30. Then, I got some decorative pillows from Old Time Pottery and a mattress topper ($16) from Bed, Bath, & Beyond! Good luck!

I bought a comforter from PBteen. It was expensive, but it was really cute and matches all my blankets and decorative pillows, and I used money I got from my grad party to pay for it, so my parents said that was ok. I think I’m gonna buy sheets from Target, and just use the same blankets I use now.

I agree with soccergrl about how grody things get. Really there is just no way to keep the stuff that goes on your bed clean with the way the dorm rooms are so small. Those little beds manage to get used for so many different things. You can’t avoid eating on them, because it is where you usually sit, especially when friends visit. There is just no way to avoid how so many drinks will get spilled. I remember waking up with crumbs in my hair-yuck!

anyway i agree with the other poster about going to RHL for the bedding and bath stuff. It is nice to be able to look online and pick out something that is all inclusive with all the sheets, blankets, and stuff for the bathroom that you need all in one package. The price is not bad either. I like that they shipped right to school, instead of being yet another thing that i had to bring all the way from home.
