dorm bedding

I have a question about the beds in the dorms. I know thay are twin xl. However, do they have a mattress and boxspring or are they just platform like beds with only a mattress? does anyone know how many inches the mattress is? that is, how tall it is. thanks.

The mattresses sit either on a built-in platform on on a flat spring mattress holder. No box springs. And the mattresses are not big thick mattresses. They are typical dorm mattresses. My D puts a 4 inch memory foam pad on the mattress and the sheets still fit. I think maybe they are 6 inches.

Rest up now Wtztu, the mattresses are horrible. I didn’t think of putting on a memory foam pad. Thanks sunnyflorida, I might just have to get one!

I bought a 15 dollar mattress pad from walmart the first day of the semester. Best investment ever. Without it, you will not get a good night’s sleep (you’ll learn that at orientation though).

im buying a twin serta matress and bringing it so i dont have to use the dorm beds haha

thanks for the information. I was already planning on the memory foam topper–they do work well

Yeah, I have a little egg crates type foam thing, then covered that with a memory foam topper. Best sleep ever, except with the occasional yelling outside my door and stuff.

At orientation the beds were SO uncomfortable, but for my dorm I bought an egg crate pad and a matress pad. My bed is so comfortable now! So just buy that and you’ll be good.
