Does anyone know how high is the space under the bed? Is it like 10 inches? According to the UCI dorm pictures, it looks pretty high. Thanks.

when I had spop last week i believe they were like 2 draws high (imagine the bottom two draws from a nightstand). And yes there is draws for storage under the bed. This is only for mesa though. I heard the middle earth is empty underneath the bed.

In Middle Earth they are at least 2 feet if not more. In mesa I believe its different.

i also have a few questions about dorms in general…
what furniture comes in the rooms? (bed frame, mattress, drawers under the bed, desk…)
closet?
windows? (how many and how big)
depending on how much storage space Irvine gives and if there are or aren’t closets in the room what do you recommend is the best way to organize/store your stuff?

thank you =]

anyone know if the beds come with mattress pads on them or should I just buy one?

The mattresses were just a mattress on a frame. From what I saw at Mesa during SPOP, it’s pretty much fully furnished furniture-wise. In Mesa the window is basically half the wall height-wise and the whole wall length-wise. Bed frames are wooden and the bottom of the bed are drawers. There are closets too but it’s for your clothes? Maybe you can stick stuff at the bottom though, but overall not too much storage space imo though you shouldn’t need to bring THAT much stuff. Hmmmm I should’ve taken a picture lol.

You’ll get the same things in ME and Mesa basically. Bed frame + mattress, closet, chair, small desk. There’s just a small difference between the two. In ME, there’s empty space underneath the bed, COMPLETELY empty. You have the option to lower or raise your bed to whatever height you’d like. and I’d have to say. it’s pretty damn high and i really want to say 3 maybe 4 feet high? I visited a friend in ME last year, he stuffed 24 pack water bottles, clothes, clothes baskets, shoes and MORE. it’s a lot of space. Also, from what I hear you can move the furniture around in ME.

In mesa, there are built-in drawers underneath the bed. I don’t remember how many, but they were of decent size but only enough to fit clothes really. Downside to mesa, I don’t think you can move the furniture around. it stays in place the whole year whether you like it or not. Honestly, i think there’s a TON of more storage space underneath the beds in ME than mesa.

as for mattress’, I really don’t know what a mattress pad is, but I think all you really get is a frame and a mattress. that’s it.

Found these pics of a room in Mesa. I’ve seen some rooms where the window runs alongside one of the beds (maybe older phases?). The beds have drawers underneath and there are built in closets and drawers.

There are pics of Middle Earth on the UCI housing site with exact measurements. The bed is pretty high. I think it is 18" of clearance underneath for storage but adjustable. There is a wardrobe cabinet for your clothes.

I visited both dorms. There were mattress pads on them, but nothing soft. I would bring a foam topper or one of the egg crate mattress toppers otherwise the bed will be hard.

thanks guys! :)

Here’s pics for the ME dorms. Since it was a corner room, there were two windows otherwise there is only a small window in ME.

What is the clearance in the Mesa Court rooms?
Sorry! I know this thread is from last year, but I am going in this year
(I am on my friend’s account) and I want to know if bed lifts are necessary.

Mesa Court rooms have drawers already underneath the beds.

Check out this picture for what I mean:

The middle Earth rooms provide a bed frame and mattress, wardrobe, and desk with a hutch for each student assigned to the room. I store most of my stuff under the bed. There’s about a foot height of space under the bed at the lowest setting, but the beds are adjustable. Bed risers are allowed too whihc provide additional space
