Dorm Cost

The cost that the colleges put in the COA for room and board: Do they include the most expensive dorm or the cheapest one?

Or something different… could be average cost. Depends on the school.

My kids’ school included the priciest dorms so that people could have loan options to cover them if desired. The problem is that it makes the COA appear higher than needed.

Many colleges report an average cost of all the dorms and 14-meals/week cost for food.

Look at your Bursar fee page and you can probably figure it out when compared to COA breakdown. At D2 it is the most expensive dorm plus most comprehensive meal plan. Good to know since that’s a place you can save some money if you don’t mind cheaper dorm and don’t want/don’t have to take most expensive meal plan.
